DTF vs DTG (direct to garment)

DTG prints directly onto the shirt and feels like nothing. DTF prints on film first, which makes it cheaper to start and more forgiving on blends.

Choose DTF if

You are starting out, your budget is under $5,000 or you print blends.

Choose DTG (direct to garment) if

You print 30+ cotton shirts a day and hand feel is the selling point.

The short answer

DTF is the lower-risk first machine. Move to DTG only when volume and margin justify a $20,000 press.
